Rational Judging Functions-Feeling and Thinking where there is a degree of reflection and uncertainty where something needs to be evaluated by the will. The thinker needs to process something through their impersonal logical system and the feeling type through their personal value system.
Rebirth and Transformation-When the Psyche under goes a renewal by first descending into the under world (Unconscious) that is followed by the ascent into Consciousness.
There are 5 kinds of Rebirth-
- 1.Metempsychosis (Soul travel)-The Soul transmigrates from incarnation to incarnation and rebirths into bodies but no promise of continuation of the Personality.
- 2.Reincarnation (Personality coming back into a Body)-The Soul rebirths back into different bodies with continuation of the Personality. The Ego has retained enough cohesion that there is a possibility of recognizing past or future lifetimes.
- 3.Resurrection (From the Dead)-Rebirth into the same body with a renewal of the Personality or the Being. In a higher sense the Subtle body is renewed.
- 4.Rebirth (Individuation/Rise of the Kundalini)-Rebirth with out much change, the essence remains. Functions are differentiated and Personality goes through improvement. Or a complete rebirth and everything changes and one goes from human to divine.
- 5.Participation in the process of Transformation (Indirect Alteration of the Personality)-Rebirth happens from the outside, through ritual, mass or ceremony.
Regression-Process of Introversion where we go to an earlier form of
adaptation. In meditation, what is talked about by Yogis eith past lives can
related to this regressive process.
Religion-In Latin is Religio which means to re-examine, to look at again, to relate back to. Religion is a prescribed system that helps incorporate a personal relationship with the transpersonal. The Religion instinct is implanted within the Reflection instinct.
The Religious attitude-The instinctive search for meaning and numinous
experience through the examination of and respect for the unconscious and
invisible energies at play. In the book of Genesis there is an emphasis on
individual consciousness and puts human beings at the center of the universe. The idea is then, spirit and the world needs to be reflected by consciousness.
Repression-Intentionally forgotten Psychic content that has been dissociated from the Conscious Personality but remains in the Unconscious. It is dissociated because it is not compatible with the attitude and function available in Consciousness. The weaker the Ego the stronger the resistance because the Ego somehow knows through a kind of Self-Preservation that it can contain that material in consciousness.
Resistance-Ego being closed to attitudes and contents.
