Feeling-Rational & Judging function of the Psyche. Is different from Emotion. Feeling judges the worth of something and evaluates whether it is agreeable or disagreeable, acceptable or rejectable in accordance to one’s own personal value system or morality. Therefore is a subjective process. The Feeling Function also has to do with Relating or Eros and connected to empathy and other humane functions. Roughly mapped to the process of “Kama” which has to do with interpersonal mode of operating as well as our likes and dislikes. The Hindu Deity Kama Deva is the Cupid of East who also goes by the name of Eros.
Final/ Prospective-The idea that things have a purpose or a goal and are
developing towards something. It is a mode of interpretation that is based on potential and probability.
Function-Sensation establishes what is actually present, thinking enables us to recognize its meaning, feeling tells us its value, and intuition points to possibilities as to whence it came and whither it is going in a given situation.["A Psychological Theory of Types," CW 6, par. 958.] The Four Functions are a Quaternity that Consciousness can orient itself. The Function with the most Libido or Prana is the Superior Function and is the most available to Consciousness where as the rest of the functions that lack Psychic Energy descend beneath the level of Consciousness and remain relatively Unconscious with the Inferior Function being the most Unconscious. There is talk that Jung formed his idea of the Functions from Buddhist concepts. The concept of Four is seen throughout culture. The Four Evangelists, The Four Horseman, The Four Humours in Greek, The Four Elements of Alchemy, so on and so forth. These Functions all have a certain color associated with them. Intuition is Yellow, Feeling is Red, Thinking is Blue and Sensation is Green.
