The Jungian Lexicon-C

Canalization-The channeling of Psychic Energy (Libido) and it’s transformation.

Causal/Reductive- The Cause and Effect principle that is underlying the concept of “Karma.” Method of interpretation that reduces things to it’s causal seed or origin to interpret the effects. It is a Mechanistic mode of interpretation.

Compensation-The attempt to make whole and complement the one-sidedness in consciousness. Anything not realized in Consciousness will be attempted to be compensated through the Unconscious, especially via Dreams.

Chakras-Psychical Localizations of Consciousness or Unconsciousness.
Mandalic Images or Symbols of Wholeness. Alchemical Transformation through which Psychic Energy transforms the body through 5 different forms of Libido (Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether). Chakras are like Gestalts and are part of what Jung called Mandala Psychology of Tantra. They embody symbols and psychic facts.

Circumambulatio-Circulating and focus on the Center.

Collective-Commercial or Universal structure that is common to everyone.

Compensation-The attempt to make whole and complement the one-sidedness in consciousness. Anything not realized in Consciousness will be attempted to be compensated through the Unconscious, especially via Dreams.

Compensation-Homeostatic function of not just the Psyche but of Life in general in order to maintain balance in the organism. Because Consciousness tends to be one-sided in it’s viewpoint, it is often counter-balanced in the Unconscious through dreams by an opposite viewpoint. Although not necessarily opposed to it, it can be helpful in a teleological way which means to be moving towards a goal or purpose.

Complex-Group of related ideas or images that are emotionally charged (feeling toned) and contain energy that is constellated by an Archetype (Spirit). They are not all bad as the name might seem. Like anything else, there are positive and negative complexes. A negative Father Complex is like saying you’re your idea or image of the Father and not the Actual Father is not in harmony with the Archetypal Image of the Father. Complexes are mostly autonomous and you don’t get rid of them, you just channel them in a different way. They can take on a life of their own and become their own personalities because they are their own mini-centers or as Jung called them “Splinter Psyche’s.,” or mini-personalities. A complex is usually incompatible with the Dominant Attitude and Superior Function in Consciousness.

Coniunctio-Means conjunction and taken from the Astrological paralance where the Sun and Moon (Male and Female) unite in sacred marriage the sky. The Coniunctio is a union of Opposites.

Conscience-Sense of Morality.

Consciousness-Field of awareness with a high energic threshold for psychic content that is under the control of the Ego. Psychic Content with high energic value rise up to the field of Consciousness to become known. Consciousness or the Known is born out of the Unconscious or The Unknown, where things unified and not separate. In Latin the word Consciousness comes out to be “Con-Socio” or “Con Scire” and it means to “know with” or with “relation to” which inherently implies duality. The world of Opposites is the world of Consciousness. For something to be known, it needs a knower. The knower is usually the “I” the Ego which is the center of Consciousness. It is a separating and discriminating faculty
to which one becomes aware of inner and outer states although one is usually has a one-sided position in either. Not everything can be in consciousness at the same time which turns into one-sided approaches. This one-sidedness of Consciousness is always compensated by the Unconscious.

Countertransference-Unconscious counter projection.

Cultural Consciousness-Awareness of the values and customs of the world or particular culture.
