Ida (Nadi)
Pronunciation-Eeh-Duh-Nah-Dee

Other names or spellings-
Definition-There are many nadis but there are three main ones. The
Ida Nadi is the lunar or cooling channel that starts at the base of the
spine and ends at the 3 rd Eye and comes out of the left nostril. The
Ida Nadi is responsible for controlling the right brain and the left side
of the body. When the left nostril is open, it is called the Ida Svara.
The Ida Svara is a good time for Yin activities like relaxation, reading,
learning, nurturing. The Ida Nadi is responsible for Apana Vayu and is
Cleansing or operates on the front and lower half of the body (Yin).


Indra

Other names or spellings-
Definition-One of original and most important Vedic Gods . Indra
along with Agni are the most mentioned Gods in the Vedas. Indra
wields the Vajra (thunderbolt) and storms and is similar to other storm
Gods like Zeus, Thor etc. He is considered the King of the Devas
(Dem-gods).

Definition-The Realm or World of Indra.


Indriya
Pronunciation-Een-D’rree-Yah
Syllables-2 (In-Dri-Ya)

Definition- Part of the 24 principles of creation in Samkhya
Philosophy and an evolution of Prakriti. An Indriya is the senses or
the faculties of the sense mind. There are ten main Indriyas. Five of
these are external and expressive called Karmendriyas. Five of these
are internal and cognoscitive called Jnanendriyas or Buddhindriyas.
The Five Karmendriyas are active and involve speaking,
grasping/holding, moving, procreating and eliminating. The five
Jnanendiryas are receptive and involve hearing, touching, seeing,
tasting and smelling. These Indriyas also correspond to the Five
Great Elements. Speaking and Hearing correspond to the Ether
element. Grasping/Holding and Touching/Being Touched correspond
to the Air element. Moving and Seeing correspond to the Fire
element. Procreating and Tasting correspond to the Water element.
Eliminating and Smelling correspond to the Earth element.

Definition-A word referring to Lord or God. For example Ganesha is
the lord (Isha) of the Ganas (Crowds).


Ishnaan
Pronunciation-Ish-Naan

Definition-The practice of taking a cold shower.


Isvara
Pronunciation-Ish-Vwar-Ra
Syllables-3 (Is-Va-Ra)
Other names or spellings-Ishwara
Definition-The God of the Yogis who does not participate in
Creation. He is a form of Shiva and is associated with God the
Father in Christianity.
