The Jungian Lexicon-M

Mandala (magic circle) & Yantras-Image of Psychic Wholeness and
Centering. Usually consists of a Quaternity or something involving the number Four. They mediate between Conscious and Unconscious. They occur in dreams when the Personality is fragmenting and is need of stability. There many types of Mandalas including Christian Cross, Alchemical Vessel, Mayan Art, Indian Chakras, Tibetan & Buddhist Thangkas and so on. Jung says there are 3 types of Manadala-Static, Circumambulatory and those that are performed in life.

Matter-The manifestation of Spirit into form. Can be just as indefinable as
Spirit. For example with regards to the atom which is invisible to the eye but nevertheless still there, just as Spirit would be.

Meditation-Method of concentrated Introspection and Contemplation to
expand consciousness. There are Active and Passive Meditations. The West has particular trouble with Passive Meditation and just sitting there alone by themselves. This is due to the Extraverted attitude in the West. The Westerner still thinks he is supposed to acquire something in Meditation rather than let go. An alternative Passive Meditation is Active Meditation and particularly Active Imagination which requires conscious participation. Passive Meditation is more of a Dissolution into the Unconscious and the East has no difficulty in this form due to their Introverted Culture. It is possible for anyone to do both kinds but you tend to see in the West the more Active and Fitness side of Yoga develop and in a large communal way (Extraversion). The person who meditates is called a Meditant.

Mesomorph-Moderate Build. Corresponds to the Pitta Constitutional Body Type of Ayurveda.

Mirroring and selfobject-Mirror comes from the word Admire. The need to be validated in childhood by a selfobject. A selfobject is something that helps us develop our Ego Narcissitically into a cohesive structure that doesn’t fragment when dealing with difficulty. Those who weren’t mirrored in childhood have a Vampire Archetype because Vampires have no reflection which alludes to a lack of Mirroring and the need for blood sucking attention that leads to Narcissism in adulthood which drains the Psychic Energy of the people around them. Lionel Corbett says that the Self continuously tries to incarnate into the Ego through the process of mirroring but because we project an ideal image onto the parents or
other people they don’t give us what we see as “good mirroring” and the incarnation of the Self is always incomplete to some degree. Therefore, this is crucial in forming our Typology and Pathology. The positive mirroring leads to good responsive traits and the negative mirroring results in our complexes which as we know have an Archetypal core.

Mind/body problem-Psyche & Matter-Synchronistic Phenomena of body
and mind operating as one but seemingly in an acausal manner. Which one might speculate that they are held together by a meaningful coincidence.

Morality-Idea of right and wrong, good or bad.

Myth-The actual image archetype in the mind can be identified by mythology or folklore. Originally Myth were written down from the experience of Dreams. They have Collective quality that can occur in dreams of people of different mythological backgrounds. For example, A man in Brazil can have a dream that corresponds to Greek Mythology like Demeter and Persephone or a Woman in Canada can have a dream that corresponds to an Aboriginal mythology in New Zealand. This is just one way of showing the interconnected Collective Unconscious.
